Campus Terminology
CRN, Class reference number, also referred to as SECTION
- A unique five-digit code that identifies a specific course section offered at a particular time and day or format
- When registering for classes, students use the CRN to select and enroll in the specific course section that fits their schedule and needs.
WAITLIST, an electronic queue that allows students to be placed on a list for a class that is currently full
- If a student who is already registered for the class drops it or if the department adds more seats to the section, students on the waitlist will be given the opportunity to enroll, in the order they appear on the list.
OKEY, refers to the Orange Key identity management system, also known as the O-Key Account Services
- O-Key credentials are used to access various online platforms and services, such as the university's portal (my.okstate.edu), email, online classrooms (like Canvas), and Microsoft software resources
- Students need to activate their O-Key accounts to gain access to these services
CWID, Campus-wide Identification, commonly referred to as A# or A-NUMBER
- This eight-digit ID number, beginning with 'A' is assigned to students when their name is added to the OSU database
- This ID number does not change, even when a student leaves or returns to OSU.
