to obtain federally backed student loans or transfer credits, and to ensure academic

The Higher Learning Commission is the accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department
of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit degree-granting
colleges and universities for the Midwest region of the United States. Accreditation
is the process by which colleges, universities, and academic programs demonstrate
their quality.

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation founded in 1895
as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. HLC accredits
degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions.
Area accreditation serves as a quality assurance process under which an external body
evaluates services and operations of educational programs to determine if applicable
standards are met. OSU holds more than 95 area accreditations across numerous fields
of study.
