Glenn Zhang

Dr. Glenn Zhang is currently a Regents professor and Boulware Endowed Chair in the
Department of Animal and Food Sciences at OSU. He received his BS and MS degrees in
Animal Science from China Agricultural University, and his PhD in Immunophysiology
from Kansas State University. He started his independent career at OSU in January
2002 after postdoctoral training in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Department
of Immunobiology at Yale University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the
modulation of animal innate immunity and intestinal microbiota, with the long-term
goal of developing innovative antibiotic-free strategies to achieve optimal animal
health and productivity. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in journals
such as Science and Microbiome, with more than 12,000 citations currently and an H-index
of 51. Dr. Zhang received the Sarkeys Distinguished Professor Award (2021), the Regents
Distinguished Research Award (2018), the James A. Whatley Award (2014), and the Don
M. Tyler Award (2014) from OSU. He was inducted into the National Academy of Inventors
in 2012, and has been a Ralph and Leila Boulware Endowed Chair in Animal Science since
2016.
