Ray Huhnke


Regents Professor of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering

Ray Huhnke, P.E., serves as a Regents Professor of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Director of the Biobased Products and Energy Center, and Associate Director of the Sun Grant Initiative – South Central Region at Oklahoma State University. He is also the Project Director and Principal Investigator for Oklahoma NSF EPSCoR. He received his B.S. degree from Purdue University, M.S. from the University of Illinois, and Ph.D. from Iowa State University before joining OSU in 1980. As an Extension state specialist, he covered many program areas, including animal production facilities, agricultural structures, machinery management, forage harvesting and storage systems, and AgrAbility. More recently, he has focused on researching bioenergy and biofuels, including feedstock logistics, biomass gasification, and producer gas conditioning and fermentation. He has authored or coauthored over 90 refereed publications, three patents, three book chapters, 285 conference publications and presentations, over 120 Extension publications, and more than 60 educational videos and CDs. He has received numerous career achievement awards, including the Sarkeys Distinguished Professor Award from the OSU Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and a USDA-NIFA Partnership Award – Mission Integration as a team member of the OSU Biobased Products and Energy Center. He is a Fellow in the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
