  • 3.00 minimum cumulative GPA
  • United State citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident

  • What do I need to apply?

    Submit the information requested on the back of this page electronically to the Director of Scholar
    Development by October 14, 2024.

     

    1. Personal details: Name, address, phone, email, legal state of residence, expected graduation date, undergraduate major, and tribal affiliation, if applicable. Please identify the category of the Udall Scholarship for which you are applying (tribal policy, Native
      healthcare, or environment).
    2. Attach a resume (no more than two pages) in which you give information on your education background, honors, awards, activities, jobs, etc. Please make separate divisions for high school and college.
    3. Describe briefly any public service and community activities associated with your interests in the environment, health care, or tribal public policy in which you regularly participate.
    4. List jobs (including summer employment) you have held in the past three or four years, especially with any details concerning volunteer work or internships related to this scholarship.
    5. What are your professional aspirations?
    6. Describe an activity or experience (including academic research) that has been important in clarifying or strengthening your motivation for a career in environmental public policy, health care, or tribal public policy.
    7. The public service careers of Congressman Morris K. Udall and Secretary of the Interior Stewart L. Udall were guided by the core values of civility, integrity, and consensus. In approximately 500 words, tell us how you exemplify at least one of these values in your personal and professional life.

     

    Additional application components to be submitted electronically to the Director of Scholar Development:

    • Two letters of recommendation from a faculty member, department head, or academic advisor. For confidentiality purposes, please request that your
      recommenders submit their letters directly to the email address below.
    • An official or unofficial college transcript
  • What is the process?
    Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee and qualified candidates will be nominated for the national Udall Scholarship competition.
