Jeffrey Spitler

Jeffrey D. Spitler is Regents Professor and  OG&E Energy Technology Chair in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University, where he teaches classes and performs research in the areas of heat transfer, thermal systems, design cooling load calculations, HVAC systems, and ground source heat pump systems.  He has directed research projects funded by ASHRAE, the U.S. DoE, the Federal Highway Administration, and ClimateMaster. He is a past president and Fellow of the International Building Performance Simulation Association and is a Fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).  He has served on a number of ASHRAE technical committees and society committees and served as chair of the ASHRAE Research Advisory Panel.  He has authored or co-authored more than 125 technical papers and ten books; four of the papers have won ASHRAE technical paper awards and a fifth paper won the 2000 Napier Shaw Bronze Medal from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.  He received the E.K Campbell Award and Crosby Field Award from ASHRAE.

He has served on PhD committees at universities in Belgium, France, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Sweden, and England.  He has been appointed as an Adjunct Professor at Hunan University in China, as a Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, and as a Fulbright Distinguished Chair of Alternative Energy Technology at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.
